Cumberland Pre-AT Trip

We broke in our gear and hiking shoes at Cumberland Island last weekend. What a beautiful place. We got to try out the water filter and iodine tablets (not bad - no taste), our stove, our food preparations, our clothes and shoes, tent and sleeping bags and pads. The weather was perfect, which made the trip great. We hiked in along the beach and then went inland on an East/West trail. The first trail was covered in water (the 6' snake we saw convinced us it was a bad idea). The next trail was clear and took us through some swamp but on all high ground which was great. We had some bug problems the first night at the waterfront campsite, but the beautiful view made it worth it. Second night we camped in the woods, where there were no bugs - it was awesome. Overall, the trip went well - we have some preparations and conditioning to do before the big trip, but I think we're going to like this! I cannot seem to get the pictures in like I want them, so in no particular order:
