France: Our Trip in a Five Minute Video and a Paragraph of Text

France. What can I say that sums up our trip? We saw 1/10 or less of what we'd like to see of that beautiful country. The architecture, gardens and streetscapes were enough to take my breath away. The people were wonderful. Out favorite nights were spent as two of four patrons of small off-season cafes and restaurants conversing with our waitress and whomever might be sitting around us. I loved the pride that was taken in the display of chocolate and baked goods at bakeries and chocolatiers; and flower displays at flower shops. I loved the emptiness of towns after dinner, and the midday break where everything closes. I loved turning the corner and falling upon a 1,000 year old cathedral and then taking a tour. I loved the rainy days, our drives on small roads through pastures and countrysides, finding a bed and breakfast and not wanting to leave, and the fantastic bread, crepes and pastries. I thought that after this trip I would feel quenched/fulfilled or like that bucket list item would be checked off of the list, but I have found just the opposite - I cannot wait to get back. We fell in love with Bayeux - the perfect mix of authentic French spots, English speaking pubs, shops and scenery. We'll probably get back there some day, but there are so many other places just in France to see, yet alone the rest of Europe and the UK.

As usual I have assembled the pictures into a video. I wish we had bought the new camera before the trip, but I think we did pretty well with our good old point and shoot. Much thanks to my husband for hoofing around France with his pregnant wife on New Years Eve, driving us around in a for finishing almost whole bottles of wine by himself and for making me realize all over again why he makes me so happy. I have never laughed so much.
