Wow. What a trip.
This is the trip that we had been planning last Spring before the May chaos back debacle. Amazingly, we were able to take 10 days off of work and make it happen.
80 miles in 7.5 days of hiking. Thousands of feet of elevation change (up and down and up and down). Talked a lot about a lot of things, but mostly food. We got incredibly tired of dehydrated noodles, rice and soup with canned chicken in a tortilla. Lots of random soreness, pulled muscles and turned ankles, but you just keep going because that is what you do. I have lots of respect for the thru-hikers, cannot imagine to toll that it takes on their bodies. Met a lot of people who were fantastic and inspiring. I'll blog about them later. Everyone we met raved about the experience and all of them convinced us that even if we don't finish our sections until we're 90, that we should keep going. So, North Carolina here we come!
This is the incredibly quick and cheesy video. I could spend days on this but then it would be done next year..so it is what it is.
Allison sent us the link to your blog. The hiking video is outstanding. What an adventure. We have been on short pieces of the A trail in the Shenandoah. When you get to the Virginia section please let us know and we'll supply a cold beverage.
