A Perfect Thanksgiving

A perfect Thanksgiving involves the three f's - Family, Football and Food. The family part did not work out this year, but we got football and food a plenty. Our routine has been the same for the past three years, sometimes friends are involved, sometimes not. One year we had Dave's Mom and my Dad but this year it was just us.

The morning begins with my favorite Thanksgiving golf course 5k, this year my neighbors came along which made it more fun. When I get home I cook and drink and watch the Macy's TG Day Parade - Dave appeases me by getting down the Christmas decorations. This year as an added bonus he got to repair the fake tree. Last year while we were out of town the dogs chewed one of the four plastic legs off of it as a sign of protest. We were in California for Christmas and had left the tree standing. When we got home the tree was in the garage (half of the ornaments broken) with a note attached by our dog sitter 'came in one day and found it....swept up all I could...sorry'.

This year an amazing thing happened, in fact, I am not sure what we did to deserve such a gift. The Jets (9-3) and Aggies (9-3 BCS ranked 17!) played at the same time! Picture this: two TV's, two wine glasses filled with wine...then beer, two remote controls, one set of headphones, and finally.....two wins! That's right, after gorging ourselves with food and a couple rounds of on the porch Rummy 500 (did not appreciate losing horribly) we got to watch our teams win in tandem. I am sure this will not happen again in our lifetime (much to the appreciation of our neighbors) so thanks to the Thanksgiving Football Scheduling Gods for aligning a night for us to be thankful for!
