Lane says Happy 4th of July! She was six weeks old yesterday! I haven't posted any stats on her, but as of last week's appointment, she weighs 8 lbs 14 ounces and is 21.5 inches long (putting her in the 75th percentile for height!). She now smiles and coos a little bit, and can consistently put her hand in her mouth. All very impressive! Her favorite place to be during the day is on her changing table, where she happily kicks and squirms and smiles - all right on target according to my weekly email that tells me what she is supposed to be doing and when. Nursing has really leveled off and both of us are getting the hang of it - thank goodness!
We took our little one to a friend's house for the 4th who was having an exotic food contest. Dave brought gabinadina, an Italian Eggplant dish that his Grandmother makes for special occasions. After going through the preparation of this dish, we have even more respect for his Grandmother, as it took Dave about three hours to peel, cube and deep fry all of the eggplant and add the rest of the ingredients - turned out great though. There are so many fantastic Italian recipes that we have taken from this wonderful woman, and so many more that we need to get! The exotic food party was fun, but I am not woman enough to try cow testicle, tongue or pig head. The kangaroo/crocodile sausage was awesome though!
Lastly, a note from the bees - "it's hot!". We've had high nineties and low hundreds for the past week or so! When it gets really hot, the bees 'beard' on the front of the hive to help keep themselves and the hive cool. They are really bearding now! Happy July!
Brielle wore the same outfit on the 4th! (1 of her 2 outfit changes!)
