Eight is Great!

Baby Orangutan turned eight weeks old yesterday! In celebration, we went to her physical therapy appointment (we're working on loosening her tight jaw muscles - which seems to be working) then I took her by my office to meet everyone where she promptly woke up and smiled at all the new faces - for about 15 minutes, then she was done. Her big accomplishment  for the week is being able to spend time alone on her play mat batting at a big pink bird while Mommy takes a shower. I feel sort of guilty - the bird is not very interesting or educational - but she seems to like it. If she grows up learning disabled, I'm blaming the bird....and the hair dryer...and the vacuum. She is still sleeping with us for right now, but she is sleeping better and better and longer and longer. If she can get to consistent four to five hour stretches, I'll start the crib transition (and yes, a part of me will miss her snuggly body).

My big accomplishments for the week - I utilized baby nap time to get my absolutely horrendously long application in to the City of Savannah for Woman Owned Business Status. I was informed that it takes six (yes six!) months for them to process the application because they are under-staffed, so I figured the sooner the better. I had to enlist Dave for help (thank goodness I married someone who can prepare a personal financial statement) and give them a blood sample, but at least that is done. I also applied to the Georgia Department of Transportation for certification in Landscape Architecture and Facilities for Bicycles and Pedestrians and will register with them as a disadvantaged business enterprise once they process the first application. I have started a tiny amount of work for a job that will get more intense around October, and I am hoping to take on some overflow from my old office. I do not get much time during the day, but we are on  a schedule, so I am hoping to do some minor things here and there. It would be a shame if my brain melted completely into mommy-hood.

8 Week Picture below! She was so squirmy I had trouble keeping the background flat!
