I never though I would be one of those parents who obnoxiously pushes for their kid to go to their college, but it just might happen. Assuming Lane is not ivy league bound (which she just might be, given how she has been mastering her excersaucer lately :-)) it would make me so happy to see her in that safe little town with the great big college in Texas. I know there are lots of fantastic schools in-state, (and Dave went to a great private university in Baltimore) but there is just something about finding your way in that great big campus that I would love to see her experience. Yes, College Station is very out-of-the-way with it's tiny little airport and it's location an hour and a half from any big city...but that is what is nice about it - it's safe, clean, has a ton of parks and there is a free service to drive you home from the bars (though Lane is never going to drink). Of course when it comes down to it in 18 years if she wants to try living in the Northeast or Southwest or even go back to California, we will be happy for her and do our best to make that happen....just as long as I can dress her in Aggie gear until she makes that decision.
Also, I think there is a tooth coming in - a mysterious white spot has appeared on her gums where her canine/vampire teeth would be - though I don't know that is what tooth it is. It has clearly been irritating her as she is biting on her fingers on that side and has this little rash on her cheek. Glad you don't remember your time as an infant - this is rough stuff!
While we were away some cabbage worms had a party on a couple of my broccolli plants. There are still 3 surviving and the peas and green beans are thriving. These things need to hurry up and sprout - a hungry little vampire is waiting!
She was all about the serious faces this week.... |
