Holidays make me happy. Not because of gift giving or days off work, but because usually I can remember what I was doing for that holiday over past years, and I like to look back at how life changes. Last year I was at a Halloween party down the street dressed as a nun - a pregnant one - but just a couple people there knew. This year my friend and neighbor is the pregnant one and I am so happy for her. Last year Dave gave me a hard time about letting kids take handfuls of candy because we might run out - we didn't - but this year he did the same thing. Last year we would get big groups of kids riding on golf carts or in trucks. This year there were lots of individuals with Mom or Dad and lots of little littles that might be Lane's friends one day. It makes me happy that I know most of the kids and parents, and that as I spoke to a neighbor in the driveway yesterday evening, two other neighbors stopped to chat - one so that Lane could pet her tiny doggy and laugh and the other to ask if we wanted to trick or treat with them. Life is good.
