Dreaming of a white Christmas?

I'm a little late with the post this week, we went on a quick vacation with friends this past weekend and I guess I have been in vacation mode! We have had uncannilly beautiful weather for December, with temperatures in the mid-seventies. We swam, walked and vacated in Hilton Head (just 45 minutes away) and came back a little refreshed. Lane had some pool time, some beach time, and was happy to be passed around between friends. It is nice being the first to have a baby - everyone is still interested and wants to help.

Mommy baby time on the beach
This baby is growing up faster than I can process the changes. Each week brings new sounds, new frustrations and new awarenesses. She goes 100 miles an hour all the time (no idea where she gets that from - she may look like me but this is Daddy's baby). We had lunch today with my doula and a client of hers and her baby boy. He peacefully sat in mommy's lap while Lane climbed my chest, squeeled and chewed on everything. I hope they did not judge my mothering as I handed her everything from sugar packets to a wipe dispenser to keep her occupied. I know I should want her to be mobile, but I think I get what that will be like, and I am not ready.

Sand is crazy

This week I am preparing for a visit with a representative from the Georgia Department of Transportation who is coming to visit my office as a part of their certification process for landscape architects. When she informed me of the home visit required, I mentioned that she will be visiting my home office....complete with my two barking coworkers...she said she's sure she's seen worse.

Her new face with the tucked in lip - it usually results in a 'buh' sound and a little spit.

  1. Good luck with the DOT meeting!!! That process can't be fun to go through.
