Ladies and gentleman, we have a teether...for real this time. I have a red-cheeked, stuffy nosed, drooly baby who is managing to have a pretty happy attitude despite the sharp thing coming through her gums. I cannot believe that my gummy grin is going away, I will miss it like I will miss lots of things in Lane's babyhood.....so since I only have 19 weeks left of weekly pics, I figure I'll add a little bit of sap to this blog and include 19 of my favorite things about baby Lane. I am sure that toddler Lane will be awesome too...but let me live in the present.
#19. Her happy dance. When she's lying on her back on the floor and Dave or I walk by, she does a little happy dance - her arms and legs go rigid and shake and she smiles. It's the dance that says 'hey, I'm glad you're here, you want to pick me up or play with me?'. I have been seeing it less and less as she gets bigger, and I know once she figures out how to crawl it will be gone completely. And yes, baby Lane, I do want to pick you up and play with you, you make me so happy baby bird.
On the homefront, the two new chickens we got from a friend have successfully assumed their pecking order in the brood after a week of dragging them in a cage in and out of the garage (thanks Dave) so that they didn't kill eachother. Amazing that an animal with a brain that small can recognize and become angry at other birds who look just like them. I am still convinced one of them is a rooster (bummer that I had already dubbed the guy Eugenia) but our chicken friends say that is not the case. If I am right, I am going to call them the first time he wakes us at or before dawn so that they can share the moment.
On the business front, I had a successful meeting with a representative from the GA DOT and expect that I will be certified with them as a women-owned business sometime soon. I have had a couple steady jobs that are keeping me as busy as I want to be right now and getting me organized from a drafting and record keeping standpoint.
It is 79 degrees outside today so we did some planting. SO here she is...my squishy, drooly, stuffed up baby - wet outfit and all....looks like she's getting ready to be on the move....need to stick her bottom to the floor.
