This was a busy week. Lane has been a rock star when it comes to entertaining herself. She army crawls to things, sits up and plays, and repeats. I would feel bad about all of her alone time, yet she seems none the worse and I have gotten lots done. I finally obtained my woman-owned business certification that is months in the making after harassing the director of the department. This certification makes me a desirable option for project teams who need to meet their woman owned business quota. I am thrilled to be able to take advantage of this opportunity.
I found a friend this week to come play with Lane for a couple hours a couple days a week so that I can have blocks of time to work or go to meetings. The sitter that we have left her with before lives pretty far away, so we have been looking for someone nearby. I feel so lucky that a lady that I used to work with who lives about a mile away is looking for some part time work. She's energetic and enthusiastic and the baby liked her right away, she's starting this week.
Friday we had a surprise baby shower for our neighbor to go to. Lane was a trooper, napped in her carrier and got passed around when she awoke. The mommy to be was very surprised, and the shower turned out beautifully. It is only now that I understand how monumental having a child is in your life, and I am so excited for this mommy friend and my other pregnant mommy friends to experience this.
We have friends coming in for St. Pats this Friday and we leave to go see my Dad and Grandmother the following Wednesday. Baby Lane goes to Vegas? Why not...
I am a little behind on my countdown....
#13. Feet. I love them, you love them, they are Daddy's feet. He's run a lot of miles on those things - I even joke with him that they are like flat boards now with no padding. You have his long second toe too, which I think is good luck. If you pull your socks off at bedtime and see your feet, it adds a good fifteen minutes until you fall asleep.
#12. Knee and Elbow dimples. You really are not a big or chunky kid - 17 lbs at your 9 month appointment, yet you have dimples at your knees and elbows that are darn cute.
#11. Dancing. You 'dance'. You like rock music because it has a beat. If music is on while you're in your high chair then you dance while you're eating, if it's on in the car, you dance in your carseat and when Daddy bangs on things in the tub, you dance to that too. We listen to a lot of music during the evenings....and a lot of npr during the day...at least she'll know the current events.
Keys, one of Daddy's treasures. |
