Ahhhhh...Saint Patricks Day. I can remember every single one since we moved here. What the weather was like, the silly people, who came with us. It's fantastic. Not because it's a classy and organized parade with big floats, but because it's not. There are one or two impressive things (the horses, the bands) but mostly it's a heritage parade; large families of Irish folks who are proud of their heritage, Irish dancers, high school bands, the guys with the little hats that ride around on tiny scooters and do volunteer stuff in the community...what are they called....Shriners. It's one of the largest parades in the United States, but it's made up of Savannah. Pretty weather, sunshine, azaleas, Spanish moss, drinking outside. Every year we're excited to go, even though we always contemplate staying home. It marks Spring for us. This year was one of the best, our friends came down for their third time from Columbus, our local friends met us there, baby Lane had a great time, Dave made buffalo chicken dip, we got a great parking space, it was in the high seventies by the end of the parade - could not have asked for a nicer day.
In true 'we'll just take her with us' parenting style, we leave for Las Vegas on Wednesday. We're meeting my Dad in the City of Sin - with an almost 10 month old - good (non-sinful) times await. Then we're headed to San Diego to see my Grandmother before returning home. This post is intentionally late so that it will not seem so long until the next one when we get back....but if we do anything crazy, like hire a call girl to watch Lane or get married again with Elvis as officiant, I'll let you know....
